Tim Taylor is a name fast becoming known for his dark, raw, high-quality tech-house productions. This year, he has already released on Deeperfect Shift plus past releases on La Pera, Low:Res, Roush, and Wyld plus his infamous Michael Jackson ‘Billie Jean’ edit, which to date has amassed over three million streams, it is clear to see why there is a buzz around the 21-year old.
When asked about the inspiration for the EP, Tim said:
“For the entire EP, I was thinking what would sound cool if it was played live by Jamie. I have always loved the darker, funky music he plays, and it inspired me massively for this EP.”
The EP starts with the long-anticipated ‘Do You Like…’, a staple of label boss Jamie Jones sets since last summer. The track blends beefy kicks and a spiralling acid bassline rounded off with a funky vocal cut, sending crowds into raptures.
‘Check It’ takes us to a darker, deeper trippy place, underpinned by its heavy drum patterns and acid stabs and laser hits sending you into the depths of a sweaty basement in mind, body, and soul.
‘Scratch’ is a stripped-back number, fresh and light hats combined with minimal elements and a catchy retro synth scattered throughout. A tasty minimal warmer set to make music heads groove deep into the night.
‘Vibrate’ closes out this mammoth EP with bubbling elements, dark, tense key chords, and trippy vocal cuts throughout make this the perfect after-hours track.
