The twin brothers Harry Nathan and Boonie Labrakis set the new Guinness World Record for the world’s smallest mobile nightclub measuring 1.53m x 0.74m x 1.88m, named ‘The Doof Shed’.
The nightclub’s outer shell is made from corrugated metal; inside, it boasts a complete Pioneer deck set up, a Focal sound system, a disco ball and a ‘full send’ button that activates features including smoke machines, strobes and lasers.
The brothers are Sydney-based artists looking for a creative alternative during the pandemic to keep the clubbing scene alive in Sydney.
In the process, they have broken the Guinness World Record, taking the crown from Club 28 in the town of Rotherham in the UK, which measured at 2m x 1.5m.
Harry Nathan shared why they wanted to put together such a fun concept, saying:
“Dance music culture continues to experience setbacks worldwide, with music festivals and nightclubs closing or being cancelled at a rapid rate. The landscape has become very difficult for promoters to schedule future events, running the risk of having their events cancelled last minute due to COVID restrictions or sudden government lockdowns,”
The Doof Shed experience was opened to the public once lockdown restrictions eased in Sydney. However, you may wonder how they go about their door policy given its limited capacity, right!?
Clubbers can enter through a ballot system for the chance to get the full Doof Shed experience, with all proceeds going to mental health charities for those who have struggled during the pandemic.
