Sonos Radio has hosted an impressive array of guest curators including Björk, FKA Twigs, and D’Angelo and now it is time for The Chemical Brothers to step up to the plate. Their first instalment came in March, a ‘Dub Mix’ and this month’s episode is ‘The Psychetronik Mix’.
Tom and Ed go on to talk on their website about how ‘The Psychetronik Mix’ is a self-defined genre, a meeting of musique concrete and psychedelic rock. This genre is a merging of serious academic electronic composition but with human sensibility.
The mix includes music from pioneers of sound Delia Derbyshire, Pierre Henry and Morton Subtonik as well as many others. It is a truly rich musical experience with a high level of electronic and musical technicality you can only sit back and marvel at.
The Chemical Brothers went on to say:
“Many of these records were discovered on tour, hunting through dusty record crates for a sleeve with an interesting equipment list or an intriguing description or a familiar name such as Tom Oberheim. Some found closer to home at record shops around the portobello road in west London. We hope you enjoy the journey into sound.”
“Keep listening for exclusive DJ mixes that will explore some of our musical passions.”
The ‘Psychetronik Mix’ show is now available on Mixcloud.
