The event was produced in collaboration with BSH Events, a Zagreb based production and event management company, and went live on Sunday, May 24th 2020 at 5 pm Local time from the ancient walls of Dubrovnik, Croatia, “The Pearl of the Adriatic” and World’s 1st quarantined city back in 1377.
The storied and stunning city, part of the UNESCO heritage, is one of the most sought after tourist destinations in Europe. Its beautiful landscape has been home to several movies and series, as seen on “Game of Thrones”, “Star Wars”, and “Robin Hood”, to name a few. In 1377 during the Great Plague, which is considered the worst pandemic ever to happen, the Republic of Ragusa – Dubrovnik today – started implementing the world’s first quarantine measures in a desperate attempt to contain the disease within city walls. In 1431 the first stone Lazareti (a building created to hold quarantined persons) was built on Supetar island. Soon, the construction of a larger, fully-equipped “Lazareti” followed to accommodate the sick and the suspects.
The stream featured two live DJ sets from two separate locations – The Lazareti, as well as the ancient city walls of Dubrovnik while taking you on a cultural journey to the most beautiful spots of the city.
The event came in association with the City of Dubrovnik, Dubrovnik Tourist Board and Society of Friends of Dubrovnik Walls., and aired from the Mr. Afterparty’s Facebook and Youtube pages as well as BSH Events and selected partners.
