Global streaming giant Spotify has launched a new website to sell tickets to fans for live events.
Rolled out on 10th August, Spotify’s new ticketing site features the tagline: “Your destination for live events by creators you love, ticketed by Spotify.”
While the site has not been announced directly by Spotify, Pitchfork have reported a company statement shared to Billboard on the development. “At Spotify, we routinely test new products and ideas to improve our user experience,” it reads.
“Some of those end up paving the path for our broader user experience and others serve only as important learnings. Tickets.spotify.com is our latest test. We have no further news to share on future plans at this time.”
At present, eleven live events are available to purchase via the new website. Whilst on the app, Spotify continues redirect users to external ticket sellers, including Ticketmaster and Songkick.
Spotify have been hot on recently implementing new features, including DJ Mixes, NFT galleries and more. Their latest offering appears to be yet another way they are attempting to battle claims of unfair streaming royalties and empowering artists through merchandising and much more.
