Spotify is testing a new feature that will turn ‘Canvas’ into a feed of endless personalised TikTok-style loops.
The new feature will roll out across the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada in the first instance. Users with access to the updated experience will see Canvas loops in a personalised feed modelled closely on TikTok’s user experience – available via the Spotify home screen.
Scrolling through the feed gives users a new way to discover music. As each song plays, the chosen Canvas for that song loops continuously. When users come across a track they want to add to a playlist or share to their social channels or an artist to follow – you can do so with a single tap in-app.
Spotify says the Canvas loops will update daily and offer 15 new recommendations per day. This new approach mimics TikTok’s success with Discovery mode, focused on music discovery instead of general entertainment.
Spotify is working hard to make its app a more social-focused audio destination. Greenroom will also soon feature within Spotify’s main homepage instead of remaining a separate app.
Spotify is still yet to reveal when the Canvas discovery feed will become available for other regions.
