The Sony Walkman – a figure synonymous with music for over four decades and has stood the test of time and technology. Over the last 40+ years, it has gotten smaller, smarter and more advanced, with the latest model following suit.
The NW-A306 comes with full WiFi compatibility, a 3.6″ full-colour touch screen, and physical buttons and promises reduced noise and distortion for high-resolution audio built from Sony’s AI-powered DSEE (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine) upscaling technology. Its DSEE technology can “restore acoustic subtleties and dynamic range” for “a richer, more complete listening experience”.
The latest Walkman model also boasts an extended battery life (up to 36 hours on one charge) compared to previous Walkman models and is available in two colours – blue and black. You can also add music streaming apps to the device from the Google Play Store, making it almost limitless in how and where you consume your favourite tunes.
The NW-A306 will be available for £350 / €400 across Europe from January 2023. As Sony points out, its packaging material contains no plastic whatsoever – claps for environmental sustainability.
