If you’re a techno or electronic music fan, chances are you’ve heard of the legendary ‘Techno Viking’. He became an internet sensation in 2016 when a video taken at Berlin’s techno music festival Fuckparade in July 2000 started circulating online.
Since then, ‘Techno Viking’ has been one of the best-known electronic music memes. Along with his hydration-toting sidekick, ‘Waterboy’, the pair has amassed millions of views on YouTube and inspired countless parodies and relatable memes.
Twenty-three years after the musclebound figure and his accomplice took to the streets of Berlin, ‘Techno Viking’ and ‘Waterboy’ have been reimagined in action figure format. The creation comes from Joe Shark of Sandwich Toys, with the packaging designed by old skool flyer designer Jonny Martin. Both toys will debut at Raindance and Just-In Time Productions’ Winter Series 2nd Edition at Mantra, Norwich, on 24 February 2023.
Both ‘Techno Viking’ and ‘Waterboy’ are available from Sandwich Toys Facebook page, costing £40 and £20 – respectively.
