Scottish DJ/Producer Jamie Roy has sadly passed away, aged 33.
In a statement made via Jamie’s Facebook page on September 21st, his family confirmed the news of Jamie’s passing:
“Jamie passed away yesterday.” the announcement reads. “Jamie was a much loved and talented son, brother, nephew and uncle and loved by his many friends and colleagues both within the music industry and beyond that. We are all absolutely heartbroken.”
At the time of writing, no information regarding the cause of Jamie’s death has been shared.
Jamie’s untimely departure has been met industry-wide with an overwhelming sea of tributes from artists, fans, friends and colleagues. It’s no secret that the man behind ‘Organ Belta’ was a much loved and larger-than-life character, and the endless stream of love and respect for Jamie online shows how much he meant to many people.
Jamie travelled an inspiring path on his way to international acclaim as an established artist. From being a plumber to an Ibiza worker to a rising star, he was an influential player in the UK & Ibiza scene and further afield who had an everlasting impact on everyone he met.
As a producer, Jamie’s unique work featured on some of House music’s most respected imprints, including Ultra, Toolroom, Patrick Topping’s Trick, Repopulate Mars, Kaluki Music and Lost Audio.
As a performer, he had earned his stripes ten times over playing clubs and festivals globally, including Pacha, Ushuaïa Ibiza, Amnesia, Ibiza Rocks, DC-10, Unum festival, Terminal V, BPM Costa Rica and many more.
If you had ever met Jamie Roy, the chances are you’d never forget having met him. There would likely be a hilarious or unforgettable story attached to that memory. He was one of the industry’s rarest types, devoted to spreading joy and love to all of those around him.
He was a jolly, loveable, charming and cheeky chap who was always an absolute joy to be around. You only have to read a handful of posts on social media today to get a glimpse of that.
Rest in peace, Jamie Roy; you’ll be sorely missed by many and surely never forgotten.
