Renowned British musician Robbie Williams’ DJ career is over just as quick as it began following an “awkward” debut at new Ibizan venue 528.
Speaking to Annie Mac on her ‘Changes’ podcast, he admitted to scrapping his new electronic project after a debut that was “so awkward”, realising he didn’t know what he was doing.
Williams said: “So I turned up at my fist electronic dance music gig in Ibiza at a place called 528. I thought that I was gonna be an audience member but on stage, I just thought I was gonna be the Bez of this project, wander around, vibes, you know,”
“What actually happened when I turned up to the first gig was 2,000 people facing the stage and just looking at me, barely any movement. It was so awkward, so awkward” he added.
Robbie appeared alongside dance group Lufthaus, having provided the vocals for their club track ‘Sway’, at one of Ibiza’s newest luxury club destinations.
Things didn’t go to plan, and the former Take That frontman found himself googling “what garage MCs say on stage” halfway through the performance.
As things got progressively worse, Robbie found himself shouting “this one goes out to the ladies!” and “wait for the drop!” down the mic and “repeated the top 10 things” on the MC list several times.
Needless to say, I doubt we will see the man behind ‘Rock DJ’ gracing the stage at Tomorrowland or anything near that level of acclaim anytime soon…
