German minimal hotshot Tim Etzel debuts on Frame Music with a bouncy three-track EP.
The Mannheim Microminimal breakout star came to prominence through his ‘Minimalistica’ party series in his homeland and has continued to enhance his reputation through a series of high-calibre releases.
‘Party On 420’ does not disappoint. Built on an infectious bounce, the EP delivers some emphatic underground flavours.
EP-opener ‘Party On 420’ hits hard and fast with a background stacked full of chunky beats and a jackin’ style flow. The analogue synths seamlessly work through their patterns and harmoniously drive the track forward, working over pulsating sub-bass.
‘Grape Diamonds’ rolls in next and continues the bouncy tempo. Peppered with acid farts and a contrasting analogue synth, the expertly delivered dubby frequency makes this track primed for the dancefloor.
The EP chapter closes with ‘Pink Kush’. Living up to its name, the production offers a more chilled out slant and pushes the mind into a different way of thinking. A deep and sultry bass crisply moves the track through its transitions and is accompanied by an infectious vocal sample that reverberates in the brain.
Overall, this EP is a masterclass in synth usage and contrasting flavours.
Tim Etzel’s ‘Party On 420’ is out NOW on Frame Music.
