Robert Hood is a name synonymous with Detroit techno, renowned for his versatility and prolific ability to deliver a steady stream of hits over the years under various monikers. His Floorplan moniker is, without doubt, his most renowned, arguably more renowned than his name.
The Floorplan alias started in 1996 with Robert Hood releasing a series of 12” singles on his label Drama (sub-label to M-Plant). His daughter Lyric Hood joined later in 2014, with the duo going on to deliver records oozing pure soul and spiritual energy. With releases on some of the finest imprints in house and techno such as AUS Music, Bek Audio, Defected and Rekids.
This latest release on Classic Music Company is the duo’s second outing on the label, after making their debut earlier this year with ‘Right There/Holy Ghost’ & it carries on in the same vein.
The opening track ‘Get My Mansion Ready’ delivers signature chords, infectious vocal hooks, gospel-like organ elements all tied together with a tasty techno bassline, designed to illicit a frenzied reaction from the dancefloor.
‘Out Of Control’ offers up a deeper and darker alternative, underpinned by a powerful soul vocal looped throughout combined with suspense-filled synth builds. The outcome is a theatrically funky filled floor shaker.
Floorplan’s ‘Get My Mansion Ready/Out Of Control’ is out on November 5th on Classic Music Company.
