A new app called ‘Rave To Save’ was tested in Ibiza’s world-famous Amnesia superclub by encouraging young clubbers to raise money for charity through dancing.
Clocking up €1 for every 100 steps danced, the test, which took place in July, collectively took 1 million steps, with all profits going to charities supporting diversity in nightlife — such as Women in Music.
Attendees were encouraged to sync the app with a wristband worn throughout the night, monitoring the time spent dancing and steps taken.
So far, the app has raised over €64,000 across six events. The Ibiza event alone has raised over €30,000 for charities. And to top it off, attendees with the most steps were invited to an exclusive Peggy Gou afterparty and free drinks.
Speaking to Desperados, Nicole Barsalona, President of Women in Music, said: “The Rave to Save campaign highlights the fact that every partygoer has the power to positively impact the future of entertainment,”
“Together, we can make the party-going experience safer for all.”
According to research, 65% of people want to see a shift towards inclusivity in dance music and clubbing, while six in ten say they would like the party scene do more to support charities.
Upcoming events collaborating with Rave To Save include Elrow Town London (August 20), Hype Festival, Elrow Island and Elrow Town Amsterdam.
