They say lightning never strikes twice, but Eric Prydz’s ‘Opus’ album is on a mission to lay waste to the well-known figure of speech.
In 2016, 500 super-limited signed and numbered copies of the record were pressed and have since remained a coveted gem for electronic music collectors.
Back in June of last year, one of those highly sought-after copies of Prydz’s seminal album appeared on one of the world’s best-known record reselling websites, Discogs.
The record went on to sell for $2,000, making it one of the most expensive sales of any piece of wax for that month.
Fast forward to November 2022, and the beast reared its head again, taking its extravagance to new heights. Toppling the June sale of $2,000, this particular piece of vinyl fetched a whopping $2,105 (roughly £1,730) through Discogs.
To give you an idea of the scarcity and lengths people are willing to go to for the record, it ranked two places higher than a rare numbered press of The Beatles’ self-titled 1968 album.
The list does contain insanely priced sales, including music from Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and many more; you can check them out here.
