Epic “You’ve Been Framed” moment, when Essex Police responded to call about an “illegal rave” happening in full daylight at the Freemasons’ Saxon Hall, Southend-on-Sea on Friday, to instead find only pensioners queuing up for their first COVID-19 jab, Echo reports.
Three police cars rushed into the site after being tipped off about a rave but were left gobsmacked after finding a group of 80 and 90 years old in line to get their first vaccination against coronavirus.
Essex Police later downplayed it saying the officers were attending to resolve traffic congestion around the vaccination site. But Dennis Baum, the chairman of Saxon Hall, said officers told him a different story, as they expected to break into a rave. The police, realising the error, indeed offered to help with the congestion formed around the site.
A spokesman for Essex Police later issued a note saying
“As the good public of Essex know, where we receive reports of people clearly and flagrantly breaking the rules we will respond, but we’re also available to help the community when needed.
“Upon receiving reports of congestion at the vaccination centre, a unit responded to offer help with traffic management and returned later that day to check that everything was progressing smoothly for those getting their jabs.”
