A thing of absolute nightmares, one person has been killed and several others injured after a freak accident at Medusa Festival in Spain at the weekend.
According to reports from Reuters, Sky News and BBC News, severe winds of over 50mph caused part of the Main Stage at the festival in Cullera, just south of Valencia, to collapse in the early hours of Saturday (August 13th) morning. Festivalgoers also reported the arrival of a sudden sandstorm, which quickly enveloped the festival site.
So far, one man in his 20s has been confirmed dead, with over 40 more people injured in the accident. Thirty-two people were taken to hospital , and three remained there on Saturday afternoon, according to regional health authorities.
In a statement on Facebook, organisers said they were “devastated and saddened at what happened this morning”.
They said, “violent strong winds” at about 04:00 local time (02:00 GMT) had caused damage to infrastructure at the venue, and a decision was immediately taken to vacate the area.
Understandably, the remainder of Medusa Festival was also cancelled following the incident.
