Neverdogs – Reality EP [Mindshake]

Neverdogs land on Paco Osuna’s label Mindshake with a stylish tech-house EP.

The Italian duo has continued to dazzle us with their take on tech-house, and they have also proven themselves in the studio by racking up a solid back catalogue, including releases on Davide Squillace’s This And That and Riva Starr’s Snatch!

On Friday 16th April, they dropped their most recent EP via Paco Osuna’s Mindshake, titled the ‘Reality EP’. All four of the tracks are a perfect fit for what many consider the trademark Neverdogs style you’d hear at their Bamboleo label parties.

‘Reality’ opens the release with a quirky and digitised vocal sample that carries over a wave of free-flowing percussion. Tribal and techy, it’s got mid-tempo energy that sets a tone for what’s to come on the rest of the EP.

The second track ‘Concreteness’ keeps a similar vibe to the first, but has a slightly more stripped back sound that gives it a more atmospheric feel.

‘Just Out’ lets the funk of the bassline become a prevalent feature, and closing out the release are the rubbery textures of the jazz-influenced ‘Synergie’.

Nevergogs say, “We have worked hard on this EP from our new recording studio in Barcelona, and we are very happy with the result. The machines we used to build the rolling grooves and the vocal samples are the ‘Elektron Analog Four MKII’ and ‘MPC’. As for the bass, our synths’ choice was the ‘Moog Sub Phatty Bass’ and the ‘Virus TI2’. We hope you enjoy listening to the EP.”

All tracks on this EP have a great synergy, and there is something here for all occasions. You can also tell it’s a release from Paco Osuna’s label Mindshake, as each of the tracks would fit perfectly into one of his house focused DJ sets.

Out on Friday 16th April 2021.
