Swedish siblings Jonas Rathsman and Franz Novotny have launched their initial single, ‘Monster‘, under the alias of Modern Tales. After amazing their audiences with breathtaking live performances while opening for RÜFÜS DU SOL on tour, the duo ultimately got signed to the renowned Australian group’s label Rose Avenue.
‘Monster’ denotes the beginning of a collaborative musical venture for the Scandinavian brothers and an energising indie-electronic project from Rose Avenue.
Musically and lyrically, ‘Monster’ stands in contrast to the tension of being held back and the bliss of discharging oneself from uncertainty and pessimism. The track changes quickly from a dim, whirling, chopped-up hook to a fanciful chorus, highlighting Modern Tales’ vocal scope and production aptitudes.
Jonas and Franz shaped Modern Tales after their own individual accomplishments – Jonas as a melodic house and techno producer and Franz as a vocalist. They chose to draw nearer the project with a clear sonic canvas instead of depending on their particular encounters as musicians. The outcome of their shared musical vision is an enthusiastic, easily emotive assortment of creations, and ‘Monster’ is a review of what else is yet to come.
The name ‘Modern Tales’ is an indication of the puzzle of the brothers’ motherland – motivation for their sentimental, one-of-a-kind Nordic sound – and their conviction that the joint musical project was a prophecy composed long before they envisioned it. Through delightful, disheartened vocals and inventive production that obscures the line between indie and electronic, Modern Tales narrate the stories of human experience ceaselessly unfurling.
Rose Avenue, home to Lastlings, Cassian, ANYMA, and more, was established by RÜFÜS DU SOL to give a stage to rising acts that speak to the particular sort of electronic music that rouses them. Modern Tales is the most alternative project on Rose Avenue yet, showing experimentation with new sounds that hold fast to the mark’s ethereal signature.
Modern Tales’ ‘Monster‘ is available now via Rose Avenue.
