Melanie Ribbe is a respected tech house artist from Germany. She is well known for her DJ sets in places like Ibiza, where she held a two-year residency at Amnesia with her party called “Melanie Ribbe & Friends”.
She is a regular performer at many leading events across Europe and further afield, and along with her DJ sets, Melanie Ribbe is also a respected producer with music on labels like Moon Harbour, Drumcode and Saved Records.
Her most recent release is a collaboration with Paco Osuna, one of Spain’s most accomplished electronic music artists. With a career lasting over two decades, he is a headline DJ needing hardly any introduction to most electronic music fans.
Paco Osuna’s style switches between tech house and techno, so his style is always perfectly tailored to match the mood of the crowd, and he has released music on record labels ranging from Defected to Drumcode.
‘The Key’ is the name of their three-track collaborative EP, and it opens with the title track, which orientates around a rolling bassline with acidic tones. Its namesake vocal samples open up to a hip-hop-style verse in the breakdown sections, adding further intensity to the groove.
“Dance Tonight” has flickering synths that rise and fall with bubbling modulation intertwined with shuffling percussion and soulful vocal snippets with a timeless sound. “Shake Control” brings proceedings to a close with its jazz percussion rhythms with rolling snares and shaking high-end percussion cut by quirky vocal textures.
