Meet Vinylly - the dating app where users' music preferences help them find love

Vinylly, a new dating app, has recently entered the market to compete with popular platforms such as Tinder and Bumble. This app uses musical compatibility to match its users.

In 2022, Vinylly, a dating app based on music compatibility, was hailed as a one-of-a-kind platform. It achieved over 18,700 matches and garnered more than 40,000 profile views.

Vinylly creates a connection between people based on their musical tastes. It looks into users’ streaming and music consumption and inquires about their likes and dislikes.

Rachel Van Nortwick, the founder of Vinylly, recently announced their app’s growth with some statistics on Twitter. Mashable highlighted this app as one of the “8 dating apps that are bucking against Tinder’s model.”

Van Nortwick stated that he has been putting a lot of effort into Vinylly, the dating platform that promotes music compatibility and inclusivity. He went on to say that they are making waves in the industry.

On Vinylly, people can make and view playlists together, with over 21,000 playlists viewed in 2022. Additionally, folks on the platform can associate their Spotify accounts and chat with other users using music-related conversation starters.

The founder declared that Vinylly has made its profile generator available, allowing people to create a profile quickly. They can also sync their Spotify. Moreover, supporting Vinylly’s mission is science, as linking through music boosts dopamine and oxytocin and minimises cortisol.

In a blog post by Vinylly, Dr Daniel Levitin, a cognitive psychologist, discussed the scientific basis for musical compatibility. He remarked that “the act of listening to music alters brain chemistry” and that “people utilise music in the same way they do drugs.”

The post continued by noting that Vinylly’s algorithm facilitates interaction between people with shared musical interests, allowing them to find common ground while expanding their musical repertoires.
