London’s community radio station Rinse FM has just confirmed a massive project called ‘I LOVE:’. The project will celebrate British music culture. The series starts with a mega ‘I LOVE: FUNKY’ party.
The ‘I LOVE:’ series will consist of shows, compilations and documentaries. It will include a documentary delving into the back story of Funky and a compilation celebrating ‘I LOVE: FUNKY’ called ‘I LOVE: FUNKY Classics.’
Founder of Rinse FM, Geeneus, when asked about the project, said:
“After 20 odd years of nurturing and developing underground music genres, it feels like a good time to reflect on them and celebrate all the UK underground has achieved. The I LOVE series is a very special and personal project to me – as I have spent my life watching the sound of the underground evolve & I will continue to keep on delivering amazing music that I love.”
The event at the Ministry of Sound will kick off the series takes place on Saturday 9th October. The event will showcase a diverse range of different genres and sounds across four rooms.
The Box will feature Crazy Cousinz, Versatile, Circle, Geeneus including, a live performance from Katy B. It will be Katy B’s first live funky performance in over a decade.
In Room Two, a heavy-hitting lineup consisting of Apple, DJ Naughty, Funkysteps, MA1, Fingaprint and, Perempay will take care of business. Meanwhile, in Room Three, expect to witness performances from Baby Box, DJ Polo, Juls, Scratch DVA and AYAYA. Rounding off the four-room takeover, The Loft will play host to CoOp, IG Culture, Phountzi, Cengiz and EVM128.
