The famed London club night Adonis has become a staple of the capital’s queer party scene, and now they launch their own record label Adonis Records.
The record label will champion the Adonis parties residents, who shaped the sound and style of the world-renowned brand. The imprint’s debut release is a four-track ‘ADONIS 001 EP’ which was released on Friday, February 25th 2022.
The release comes from residents Nyra and Wilson Phoenix, a perfect representation of the musical styles played across the rooms at their parties over the years. It coincides with the end of the Adonis party’s four-year residency at The Cause, which ended on New Year’s Day this year.
Nyra delivers a double A-side delight, consisting of the signature uplifting, main-room house sound Adonis has become renowned for. Nyra opens with ‘Used to Love Me’ which stokes nostalgia of the early New York house days, a truly deep and majestic house cut. The second cut from Nyra is ‘Visions’, a colourful electro beat combined with flashes of Italo house, resulting in a peak-time beat full of bounce.
Wilson Phoenix comes in hot with the two B-sides, delivering the darker, more powerful side of Adonis’ parties. First up is ‘Dash Und’ consisting of a punchy 909, robot-like synth work and ravey elements throughout. Phoenix rounds off this debut EP with ‘K-12’ ramping up the intensity with a classic techno stomper, perfect for the early hours.
