‘Story of a Battle’ is the latest release from Lebanese musician and electronic music producer Ghenwa Nemnom.
The release launches her new record label Astarte, and, along with her emotive original, it also features a remix by Germany’s Chris Zippel.
It’s an interesting release that blurs the lines between classic/orchestral and electronic music, as there is only a short section of sequenced percussion and minimal synth parts in the original track.
This being said, the original is still a rather impressive and cinematic track that has just enough electronic elements to fall into the electronica genre.
Chris Zippel is a behind the scenes studio wizard who, along with his own tracks, has produced other artists, including Robbie Williams, Nora Jones and the Pet Shop Boys.
Outside of producing other artists, Chris Zippel’s own tracks and remixes have been released by other imprints ranging from Embassy One to Tresor.
Both tracks on the release could work in a DJ set with the right person manning the controls, but Chris Zippel’s remix is certainly the more dance floor friendly of the two. Its raised tempo and abundance of energetic percussion are the main reason for this, but he has also added some moody synth pads and other electronic parts.
Overall, it is a confident debut voyage from Astarte, and we are certainly intrigued to see what comes next from the imprint.
