Continuing a steady run of form, Barcelona-based techno imprint CODEX welcomes Lady Tazz to the label with its latest release. Run by renowned techno producer Spartaque, CODEX has quickly become a mainstay at the forefront of the genre.
The latest release comes from Canadian/Bangladeshi artist Lady Tazz. Featuring the vocals of Ursula Ruker and an emphatic remix from Autektone Records frontman T78, Dragon Lady was “created and inspired by my alter ego, to empower women and help them celebrate their power,” says Lady Tazz.
She believes her alter ego is someone most women can relate to and aspire to be. She is powerful, independent, opinionated, unstoppable, fearless, and sexy.
Opening the release, the title track is a combination of rave-inspired melodic components and pulsating techno. Bouncing off its sizzling hat grooves is a commanding female vocal that drives the track forward in captivating fashion.
Next up, T78 comes through with a hard-hitting and darkened remix – full of energy. It’s more or less a stadium-sized re-do of the original mix with a more sinister personality and riveting energy that will leave you needing a sit down by the end of it!
A well rounded and solid two-track EP from a label that should be on your radar if it isn’t already. Impressive stuff from Lady Tazz and T78.
Dragon Lady incl. T78 Remix is out now via CODEX.
