Jodie Harsh, an international drag queen and house DJ, has been involved in the dance music scene since the early noughties. In the short documentary, which went live on Friday 25th June in celebration of Pride Month, Jodie talks bout her involvement and experiences within the LGBTQ+ dance scene.
Talking about the pandemic, how it has impacted the scene and what she is looking forward to upon our return post-pandemic, she said:
“Nightlife has been completely taken away from us by a virus, this hasn’t happened in our lifetime before. I need to keep doing what I love, which is providing people a good time within a nightlife space. How can I do that from my living room?”
In 2020, Jodie launching her own podcast called ‘Life Of The Party’, with the idea to bring the party vibe to listeners’ homes while we physically couldn’t be in nightclubs. The podcast has included guests Annie Mac, Erol Alkan and Fatboy Slim among others where she talks to them about their clubbing memories, what nightlife means to them, and how the pandemic has impacted their lives professionally and personally.
In the mini-documentary, Jodie goes on to talk about self-expression, fluidity of LGBTQ+ nightlife environment, fashion, glamour and all the creative aspects that come together in this space.
