The past 18-months have seen many sink or swim; thankfully for James, he took like a duck to water, utilising the time to sign releases to major dance music imprints Of Unsound Mind, Sola, and W&O Street Tracks, receiving regular BBC Radio 1 support from Annie Mac, Danny Howard, and Sarah Story.
Further to his impressive start to 2021, James’s musical CV demonstrates his pedigree as a rising house talent to be reckoned with, releasing on Do Not Sleep Ibiza, Richy Ahmed’s Four Thirty Two, and Kaluki. Regular support from the crème de la crème of DJ talent spanning genres like disco, house, tech-house, techno, and anything in between DJ Harvey, Horse Meat Disco, Eli Brown, Richy Ahmed, Skream, Solardo, wAFF, and Walker & Royce.
James Burton has become renowned for delivering hard-hitting, raw soul-infused warehouse cuts. His latest release on W&O Street Tracks is in keeping with his trademark sound, delivering a two-track EP oozing with attitude and soul-tinged tech-house dance-floor weapons.
‘Dance Infusion’ is a tech-house dancefloor destroyer drenched in hip-hop attitude. James marries organ-laden elements with driving tech-infused grooves, building the core of the track around percussive syncopation capped off with some classic hip-hop vocals. A bouncy fun number set to get dancefloors groovin’ all summer long.
‘Soulflute’ is funky and colourful, epitomising James’s style as totally mad and always delivering the unexpected. As the name suggests, the track is underpinned by a flute melody creatively chopped and sliced up to maximum effect. Then, some 90’s inspired piano chords to create a funky house melody peppered with vocal samples throughout. The result is an irresistible feel-good summer hit.
James Burton’s Dance Infusion EP’ is out now on W&O Street Tracks.
