Kamai Music is an organic house record label run by Jacob Groening, one of Germany’s most respected electronic music artists.
Jacob Groening is a Berlin-based producer and DJ at the centre of his home city’s vibrant club scene. He also plays regular DJ sets in other parts of the world, ranging from Brazil to India, and his productions can be found on record labels such as Bar 25, Serafin Audio Imprint and Gardens of Babylon.
This new release from Jacob Groening showcases his skill at capturing the imagination with exotic sounds that he blends with sequenced beats and beautiful synth lines.
‘Neko‘ is the name of this latest release, and it opens with the original mix of the title track, which has softly spoken Asian vocals layered with a mesmerising melody that sounds like it’s played on a xylophone or similar instrument. ‘Suingu‘ is the other original track on this release, and it’s got an oriental melody that sounds like it was inspired by Japanese culture. That melody is combined with uplifting synths and chugging percussion rhythms.
Also on the release are two remixes; the first is from Brazilian artist Xique-Xique who is known for his links to imprints such as The Magic Movement. He reworks ‘Neko’ into a deep house version with a new melodic bassline and more focus on the synths.
Kermesse is an Argentinian duo who have been a regular feature on Kamai Music alongside other labels such as Sol Selectas. They remix ‘Suingu’ into an upbeat and jazz-infused version that focuses on the percussive rhythms.
