The iconic LGBTQI+ venue Heaven recently opened its doors, becoming a temporary vaccination centre to aid the drive to encourage young people to get vaccinated.
On Sunday 8th August, Heaven gave out 1,000 Covid-19 vaccinations, with the move by the club part of a larger push by the nightlife industry and its members to promote the vaccination uptake.
Although the government has said, from the end of September, people will require their two vaccinations to gain entry to nightclubs & entertainment venues, only 67% of 18-29-year-olds have had their first vaccine.
This has led to the drive from the nightlife industry, with industry bodies LIVE and Safer Sounds at the forefront of the drive, along with big-name DJs like Carl Cox also encouraging people to get vaccinated.
Owner of Heaven Jeremy Joseph said:
“It is important we all do our bit and encourage each other to get vaccinated — not just because you might soon need a vaccine passport to enter nightclubs, but because we want everyone to party safely.”
The renowned clubbing institution Heaven is home to some of the most celebrated parties such as G-A-Y and Popcorn. It doesn’t stop there, as another iconic venue in Ministry of Sound has also opened its doors last weekend to offer jabs. We also recently reported on vaccination parties in Berlin, encouraging Berliners to get vaccinated while listening to some of their favourite DJs play.
