At last, some good news for those looking to make their yearly pilgrimage to the white isle this summer. As reported in Diario de Ibiza, the Ibizan government moves to accelerate its reopening program as early as the end of April, lasting through October or even later.
Talking about the plans to reopen the island’s clubs to residents and tourists, José Luis Benítez, manager of Ocio de Ibiza, says: “The idea is that the opening will be at the end of April, two weeks ahead of what is normally done.” Then, “to hang on until October… November if all goes well.”
Benítez also added: “all of the island’s major nightlife enterprises are actively working this winter to prepare for the season.” In reality, they could already be open “with a 65% capacity, a covid passport, and differentiated zones (the area where you can drink).” He also believes that in any case, with current or no restrictions, the season can still go ahead: “Even so, we will proceed with caution and in collaboration with the authorities.”
With globally revered conference International Music Summit planned to take place from 27-29 April, it looks very much like business as usual on the island this year for industry professionals and punters alike.
With the stage set for a 2022 season, there will undoubtedly be some head-turning announcements on the horizon!
