Guy Gerber serves rape accuser with a defamation case

Mavi De Mars refused to back down on her statement against the Israeli artist Guy Gerber, who has now served her with criminal papers for defamation.

The court papers were officially accepted by judge Carmen Martin Montero in Ibiza on February 14th, with the charge being “calumnia,” which translates to “slander” or “defamation.”

This move followed a conciliation meeting in Formentera between De Mars and Gerber’s representative to discuss the situation and attempt to reach an agreement. De Mars was requested to withdraw her statement in exchange for no further action being taken but stated that she would not lie. Consequently, she plans to wait for the assignment of a public defence lawyer before taking the next step and potentially launching her criminal case in the UK or Greece, where the alleged incident occurred.

After the allegations first emerged on De Mars’ Instagram account last summer, Gerber began the legal process against her within days. The date of the criminal case has yet to be decided, and more information will be released as the story develops.
