Here’s something many people never thought they would hear: Fyre Festival’s infamous founder Billy McFarland is launching a new event in the Bahamas.
Many will remember the viral sensation that was Netflix’s “FYRE: The Greatest Party That Never Happened”, which shared the story of history’s wildest festival blunder, in which Fyre Festival “was billed as a luxury music experience on a posh private island, but it failed spectacularly in the hands of a cocky entrepreneur.”
For those of you that need a refresh, we’ll just leave this here:

McFarland served just four years of his six-year sentence after pleading guilty to wire fraud charges. He currently owes somewhere in the region of $26 million. As part of his plea deal, he is barred indefinitely from serving as a Director of any public company.
Following McFarland’s release from prison, he’s now returning to the site of his disastrous festival, the Bahamas, to organise a “treasure hunt,” as reported by Deadline.
As he has been teasing on TikTok, the event (titled PYRT) will see McFarland lead an excursion where participants must track down one of 99 bottles with a message inside.
For those of you already preempting the juicy watchability of another McFarland brainfart, PYRT will be the subject of an upcoming feature documentary, “After the Fyre”. The film will reportedly follow Billy as he “attempts to pay back” the investors, partners and attendees of Fyre Festival whom he duped. Further details regarding the documentary, including the release date and hosting platform, are yet to be revealed.
