fabric will host a special fundraiser event in support of ex-promoter Shaun Roberts.
‘A Dance For Shaun’ will showcase on November the 18th and will raise funds for life-extending treatment.
The event proceeds will fund the treatment, which now surpasses NHS help and requires high-cost medical care. This follows a diagnosis of stage four metastatic cancer just over a year ago.
“The treatment isn’t cheap. I had just gone self-employed when I got ill and had to cancel all of the work I had for the year ahead. Then COVID!” said Roberts on his GoFundMe campaign page.
“It’s all going into the medical fund,” he continued. “I’m embarrassed to say it but I’m pretty broke and my ability to go back to work is limited for the time being. It was a real struggle for me to do this.”
To date, over £150,000 has been raised and all ticket sales plus booking fee revenue from this Fabric event will be added to the pot.
The event will utilise all three of the famous Fabric rooms and boasts a heavyweight lineup, including Chase & Status, Andy C, Chemical Brothers, Annie Mac & Fatboy Slim.
Cameron Leslie, fabric’s Managing Director and Co-Founder, said regarding the event, “Shaun is someone we have known for 20 years. He’s a very close friend of ours and also respected across the industry.
“This event is the best way to support him. He means a huge amount to many of us – artists, agencies and managers alike – so this is a reflection of the love we have for him.”
