Dance music community unites for Philippines Typhoon support

Music platforms across the globe have united to fundraise for disaster relief in the Archipelago nation.

Super Typhoon Rai, AKA Typhoon Odette, destroyed homes, farming plots and power supplies when it hit – back in December. The storm caused a huge loss of life. More than four million residents nationwide are affected, according to officials

Manila Community Radio, a hub for local DJs and producers, has set up a list of non-governmental organisations working in impacted areas.

The list includes Lokal Lab and For The Future. The station is appealing for listeners to support these groups with cash donations that will go towards rebuilding and regeneration.

Some other notable groundwork is also taking place.

Bad Times Disco, an online record store and party series based in Hong Kong, has launched a fundraiser for ‘Kids For Kids PH‘, a youth-led collective working on on-the-ground climate advocacy, clean up and food aid. A wonderful initiative.

Free The Robots, AKA Chris Alfaro, is currently working on a fund to help rebuild Siargao, one of the most affected regions from the typhoon.
