The new book written by Ben Cardew, a music journalist and writer, will focus on Daft Punk’s second studio album Discovery. The book will delve into the duo’s most famous record and the story surrounding it and will be published through Velocity Press; it will include over 25 interviews, including unreleased interview material with the duo themselves.
The duo parted ways in February 2021 after 28 years, the announcement came via an eight-minute Facebook video ‘Epilogue’. The book was reworked given the book was written before Daft Punk parted ways earlier in the year.
The synopsis describes the work as:
”Daft Punk’s Discovery is a record that looked into the future and liked what it saw. An album that predicted the electronic music explosion, Youtube and the end of privacy, while dragging soft rock back into vogue.”
The author Ben Cardew pays tribute to one of the most influential electronic acts of all time while recounting memories from the duo’s most celebrated work.
The Velocity Press official page goes on to say:
“Discovery as a cultural phenomenon, placing the album at the centre of celebrity culture, fan clubs, video, the music business etc., while also examining its profound musical impact.”
