Cassy – Pace It Together EP [Kwench]

Cassy’s ‘Pace It Together’ EP is a three-track cut born straight out of the sound of the Bronx. Continuing the DJ/Producer’s recent release mood for authentic New York-style house, this EP does not disappoint. 

Cassy’s lifelong love affair with music makes her one of the most respected selectors of her generation. A dynamic, passionate DJ with an encyclopaedic knowledge of electronic music history and a record bag to match it. 

The English born, Austrian raised producer certainly levels up with this dubby offering on her Kwench imprint. Kwench was introduced to the label market to blur the lines between commercial and underground frequencies, and this drop lives up to that ethos. 

Kicking off the ‘A’ is the deeply intense ‘Pacemaker’. The multi-layered house track pushes the minimal/tech boundary and drives through its patterns with a rich underlying texture. This is certainly one for those sweaty rave caves. 

The story continues with ‘Together’, which brings in stabbing acid lines and juiced-up drums, building a deceptively up-tempo beat. This one is straight out of the old school Chicago house playbook

On the flip, is a bonus track in the form of a Ron Trent remix of Cassy & Pete Moss’s ‘You Gotta Know.’ This remix takes you on a spiritual journey, building ‘inception’ like layers through wonderfully deep multi-faceted synth work, accompanied by a vocal that sends shivers down the spine. 

‘Pace It Together EP’ is one for the underground rave dens and after-hour moments.
