The nominations were announced on the Academy’s official Youtube channel on 23rd November. The most notable GRAMMY nominations from the world of electronic music are Bonobo, Black Coffee, Caribou, James Blake and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs.
The awards ceremony takes place on 31st January 2022 in Los Angeles. This will be the 64th edition, and other nominees include Billie Eilish, Justin Bieber, J.Cole, The Weeknd and Ye.
The electronic music category sees Caribou’s ‘You Can Do It’ and James Blake’s ‘Before’ both nominated for best dance/electronic recording. Then in the best electronic album category, Black Coffee’s ‘Subconsciously’ and Major Lazer’s ‘Music Is The Weapon (Reloaded)’ were nominated.
Bonobo has notched up two nominations under the recording category, the first for his track ‘Loom’ with Ólafur Arnalds and the second for ‘Heartbreak’ with Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs.
While breakthrough act Fred Again also received a songwriter nomination for his writing on Ed Sheeran’s ‘Bad Habits’.
A new record is also due to be set at this edition of the GRAMMY’s, with Jay-Z to go ahead of Quincy Jones as the most nominated artist in GRAMMY history. His total number of nominations is now at 83, given his three nominations for 2022.
