The Beatport Group announced their majority stake in International Music Summit (IMS) Ibiza yesterday (January 31st).

IMS Ibiza is a platform that promotes recognition and admiration for electronic music, DJing, and related art forms. The partnership will provide a secure foundation for the growth and expansion of the IMS business.

In 2007, five partners, including renowned DJ Pete Tong MBE and industry executive Ben Turner, launched IMS Ibiza to encourage conversation and progress within the electronic music industry.

The three-day event offers seminars, keynote interviews, masterclasses, performances, and networking opportunities. IMS has gone beyond music to address diversity, mental health, and sexual harassment and has worked with shesaid.so for seven years to co-curate their line-ups and hold events and safe spaces.

They also release an annual IMS Business Report with data, analysis, and yearly evaluations that are critical to the industry’s success. Jaguar, another BBC Radio 1 dance presenter, co-hosts the event each year along with Tong.

IMS Ibiza will continue to operate under the guidance of its co-founders and with the support of The Beatport Group.

Robb McDaniels, Chief Executive Officer of Beatport, expressed his enthusiasm for taking the IMS brand to the next level. He said Beatport plans to broaden IMS’s reach through global expansion, community building, education and thought leadership initiatives. McDaniels is excited to collaborate with Pete, Ben, and the entire IMS team.

The founders of IMS (Ben Turner, Danny Whittle, Mark Netto, Pete Tong & Simeon Friend) proudly stated that since its inception 16 years ago, they have been pushing the culture forward from Ibiza, their spiritual home. With their alignment with Beatport, who have supported them from the beginning, they can now execute many of their plans to expand the platform further, educate and mentor the next generation, and bring attention to important issues – enabling them to have a more significant impact on the industry.

The fourteenth annual edition of IMS Ibiza is coming back this April. The event will be held at Destino Pacha Ibiza resort from Wednesday, April 26th through Friday, April 28th. Over three days, the summit will bring together the entire dance music industry for meaningful dialogue, networking, and partying.

A limited number of Early Bird Delegate badges are available at €320. Discounts are offered for full-time students, the under 27s, Ibiza residents, and those going green with their travel.
