The Balearic Nightlife Association, ABONE, has held talks with local authorities concerning the reopening of clubs, as reported by Diario De Mallorca.
Speaking for the first time in over a year, the two parties have begun to hash out a plan to reopen clubs in the region safely. ABONE’s new president, Miguel Pérez-Marsá, described his conversation with tourism minister Iago Negueruela as “very positive.” The aim was to begin outlining an “orderly and safe” return to clubbing.
There have been no formal dates confirmed or agreements made thus far, although Pérez-Marsá confirmed there would now be regular meetings between ABONE and the local government.
It is currently undecided whether clubbing will return to the Balearics in 2021, and specifically Ibiza in the same timeframe. Still, some local rumours hint we might see large clubs with open-air terraces allowed to go ahead. Regardless of this, some of the island’s most revered venues, such as Amnesia, have announced events – enlisting a wealth of industry heavyweights. The globally renowned venue’s closing party is due to take place October 23rd, with Jamie Jones, The Blessed Madonna and more.
