Titled ‘S O S’, the compilation is loaded with 14 tracks from artists affiliated to the imprint, including productions from Arjun Vagale, one of India’s most coveted DJs, and offerings from the wider Indian techno scene. The digital release has been wonderfully curated and is packed full of unreleased material, fitting of such a cause and is available via Bandcamp.
Speaking about the release, Vagale said:
“The idea was to put this project out as soon as possible so we can start generating funds immediately. We need to help NOW! I want to thank all the artists who stepped up and contributed – we literally put this together in a couple of days – none of this would be possible without your art.”
All the proceeds from sales are going to the Hemkunt Foundation, an organisation establishing world-class training facilities to enable communities through the generation of livelihoods. They have been doing vital on-ground Covid-19 relief work and aiding the supply of oxygen to critically ill patients.
The nation is currently going through its worst stage of the pandemic so far and has faced some extreme difficulties trying to cope with the spread and treatment of the illness. A catastrophic second wave of the virus has led to shortages of ventilators, beds and oxygen tanks. There have been over 17 million cases reported in the Country to date, with a record 300,000 in a single day.
