EKEI is a new house music record label headed up by Greek artist Alfie Rhodes, who provides two original tracks on the imprint’s debut release.
Alfie Rhodes is a multi-talented artist who has also made music under the alias Anastasis, and is a skilled guitar player, along with his electronic music production.
Sunday Noise is a Peruvian artist who features a remix on the release, and provides a percussive remix similar to his previous releases on Kevin McKay’s Glasgow Underground and Steve Lawler’s VIVa LIMITED.
‘Flex On Me’ opens the release with the funky groove of its thickset bassline and bumping percussion, forming a foundation for the flexing vocal about working up a sweat. The upbeat vibe of the track is full of motivational energy that will no doubt work the dance floor into a frenzy.
Stepping up on remix duties, Sunday Noise works in his own rolling bassline and a tribal percussion loop that switches up the track’s vibe. He also pushes back the vocal, so it’s more of a background texture allowing the rhythms to take full control.
‘Online Ghost’ has a more understated style that utilises the acid tones of a juddering bassline overlayered with dubby synth stabs and a soulful vocal with a timeless sound. It’s a more intimate track, but it still brings the heat with its smoking-hot groove.
