A new £25million carbon-neutral superyacht is set to bring floating parties to the capital seven days a week in the near future.
The three-storey 1,500 capacity vessel, called Oceandiva, could start hosting parties by the end of 2022, with the owners applying for licensing between 23:00 – 02:00.
Coined as London’s “largest floating events space”, measuring 282ft (86m) in length and 55ft (17m) in breadth, the ship boasts a stylish bar area, a spot-lit dance floor with a stage, and will cruise past some of London’s most iconic landmarks, such as Tower Bridge and the Houses of Parliament.
Partygoers will be able to board the Oceandiva London ship from six points along the Thames, including Butler’s Wharf, London Bridge, Tower Bridge, Canary Wharf, Greenwich and Royal Victoria Dock.
But it’s not just all music and dancing. Hungry passengers are also in luck, as the vessel will be catered by Moving Venue – which creates menus in Kensington Palace and the Victoria and Albert Museum – in collaboration with Last Supper, a luxury catering company that counts high-end names like Gucci, Sotheby’s and Mont Blanc among its clients.
The River Thames, particularly the London portion, has a longstanding history of great floating parties and water-bound events. Could this new superyacht be a welcomed addition or the stick that breaks the camel’s back? Only time will tell.
