Dean Kirk, 26, was arrested on 19th July 2020 after attempting to urinate on five police officers from on top of a van – at an illegal 200-person rave in Rutland, East Midlands.
According to police reports, he tried to negotiate with officers after they stormed the event. After they refused to allow the party to continue, Kirk climbed atop of a van and proceeded to pull down his trousers – aiming at but missing all five officers in an attempt to urinate over them.
After appearing in Leicester Magistrates Court earlier this year to plead his case, Kirk has now been charged with five counts of assault, as well as criminal damage, threatening behaviour, and failure to correspond with police. No charges were issued for failure to leave the area or criminal damage, but a fine of £198 was given as a victim surcharge.
Prosecutor Pretty Barber sentenced Kirk to 16-weeks custody suspended for 18 months with 30 days of rehabilitation activity after assaulting police officers. Speaking in court, Barber said: “He said there were 200 ravers who had taken drugs who would be left in the field. He stated he was not the organiser of the rave but asked that it was not stopped.”
Police were unable to locate the organiser of the rave, which took place in the Pickworth area. A police spokesperson provided the following statement: “Officers were deployed to assist with the dispersal of people who were at the event. Musical equipment was also seized.”
Speaking in court, his defendant, Shekyena Marcelle-Brown, said: “Mr Kirk regrets what he said that day. He suffers from ADHD; when he’s in a situation like that he tends to show off. When he woke up the next morning, he was ashamed.”
