Brits could be allowed to travel to Ibiza in just over a week!

Excitement is building for holidaymakers and Ibiza pilgrims, as speculation around the UK’s travel corridor continues to show promising signs.

According to the minister for Spanish tourism, Ibiza may move off the UK’s amber list in the next week or so. At present, you are to quarantine for ten days upon returning from the region. You also currently need to book two PCR COVID tests upon returning, which costs somewhere in the range of £120.

Fernando Valdés told Sky News: “Spain is doing a great effort not only in terms of vaccination, but we also have at least one-third of our whole population with at least one dose.

“But also, we have some holiday destinations that are very loved by British tourists such as the Balearic Islands, Costa Blanca or Malaga, with notification rates that are pretty low and by the same notification range of the UK,” said.

With the annual Ibiza season beckoning, Valdés is now collaborating with the UK government on a plan to reopen travel to the White Isle. Despite the country being on the amber list, The Sun estimated that around 100,000 Brits would head to Spain this week following the relaxation of travel restrictions on May 17th.

The next update on travel and the traffic light system will be delivered by the UK Government on June 7th. 

“We are desperate to welcome you this summer,” Valdés told Sky News earlier this year. “Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have been trying to put in place different means to help safe tourism.”

Is this a glimmer of hope for this years Ibiza season? Will it be anything like we have known in the past? Currently, that is all dependent on what news is delivered by Boris Johnson and his cabinet of ministers in the forthcoming address.
